Allegro https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZK6-x9sdEYo 2- Mozart’s Symphony no 40 – 1st movement https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l45DAuXYSIs 3- Arcangelo Corelli: Concerto Grosso Opus 6 No. 4 in D Major; Adagio & Allegro : Voices of Music https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RFUFWOx6760 4- Mahler: Symphony No. 1 & Symphony No. 5 | Classical Music https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BGb14LGomls&t=369s 5- Sid Caesar & Nannette Fabray – Argument to Beethoven’s 5th (best resolution).mpg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9QSvGnDd4m4&feature=youtu.be You may also select from ONE of your own favorite pieces from pop, jazz or folk idiom. 1- Adele – Someone Like You https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hLQl3WQQoQ0 The pieces should demonstrate: 1-Change and revolution 2- Emotional extremes 3- Spirituality 4-Pleasure and fun 5-Sadness, death, and/or horror For example, select one piece that exemplifies change and revolution, another that exemplifies emotional extremes, etc. Or you could pick 5 that all exemplify one of those themes. Make sure you have included the information below: • Composer, title, date of composition • Style • Instrumentation • Tempo • Meter if you can figure it out • Special timbres • Pick at least one 20” spot in the piece to describe in detail: For example, at 1:10-1:30 there is a gradual build-up in tension. The strings start and then winds and brass are added until a loud thunderous chord, with percussion. • Mood(s) of piece • Does this piece have a climax and where does it occur (a general time period, e.g., from 3-3:30) • Your personal reaction to the pieces.
